What cardiac services do we offer?
The following cardiac services are available at Serene Care hospitals:
Cardiac health awareness programmes
This includes the provision of educational materials surrounding the prevention, management and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Care following a heart attack or other cardiac failure
Recovery can be challenging. Our treatment and care may include in-hospital treatment and guidance on lifestyle changes.
Angiograms
Diagnostic tests for which X-ray imaging is utilised to identify blockages in blood vessels.
Cardiac catheterisation procedures
Cardiac catheterisation procedures include tests used to diagnose and treat certain cardiovascular conditions (e.g. angioplasty and implantation of a stent).
Coronary artery bypass
This surgery redirects blood around a blocked artery to improve blood flow. It is recommended by a specialist for people who have severe coronary heart disease and require improved blood flow.
Artificial heart valve implantation
Artificial heart valve implantation is performed on patients who have damaged or diseased valves that may need repair or replacement.
Heart transplant
A surgical procedure required in the treatment of a diseased or failing heart. Specialists replace the failing organ with a healthy heart obtained from a donor.
Lung transplant
A surgical procedure required in the treatment of diseased or failing lungs. Specialists replace the failing organ with a healthy lung obtained from a donor.
Direct current cardioversions
As advised by a specialist for patients who experience irregular heartbeat, this procedure involves electric shocks to treat irregular heartbeat.
Pacemaker implantation
As advised by your specialist, this procedure involves placing a small electronic device into your chest to help regulate your heartbeat.
Cardiac electrophysiology
A diagnostic test used to detect electrical issues in your heart, including an abnormal heartbeat (arrhythmia).
Catheter ablation of arrhythmias
A procedure used in the treatment of arrhythmia. This involves insertion of a catheter into a blood vessel to reach an area causing arrhythmia, and then destroys those cells to help restore a regular heartbeat.
Cardiac defibrillator implantation
This procedure involves placing a small electronic device, similar to a pacemaker, in the chest to regulate the heartbeat. It can also help prevent your heart from going into cardiac arrest by delivering high-level electrical shocks.
Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair with covered stent
A surgical procedure used to repair the damage done following an aneurysm (an enlarged blood vessel).
Femoral bypass
Surgery performed to treat any diseased arteries below or above the knee.
Thrombectomies: vena and carotid
A surgical procedure that involves removing a clot from an artery.
Vascular surgery
Surgery required for the treatment of conditions of the arteries, veins and lymphatic system (e.g. artery and aortic disease).
